Crazy Trip (and we’re only as far as Toronto…)

Well, we got off to a fairly good start this morning. We got to the airport at 8:30, so 2 hours before our 10:30 departure. That’s where  things start to go weird. We were at the check-in counter for almost 45 minutes. The agent was having trouble with our reservation. Apparently, the issue is that in Detroit, Air Canada reservations are handled by United’s agents. And Air Canada does not “push” the infant (lap baby) boarding passes through to their system. She ended up having to call Air Canada to get us ticketed properly. A couple of things that worked … Continue reading

Installing a Husband

I did not write this one. My sister-in-law emailed it to me and I thought it was so funny that I had to post it. (Luckily, my husband installation works much better and did not suffer from these issues!) ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal … Continue reading

Gaku has been so excited about Christmas! Hana has been pretty excited too, but not nearly as much as Gaku. After the first snowfall, Gaku said, “Is it winter now? Good. Santa can come.” This was over a month before Christmas. We put up the tree about two weeks ago. Gaku had been bugging me endlessly, every day, all day long, for an entire week before we got around to putting it up. The night we put it up, he slept on the floor next to the tree… for most of the night anyway, until he woke up in the … Continue reading

Evening Juggling

I’ve come to the conclusion that evening with three kids is like a juggling act where you’re constantly dropping and/or almost dropping the balls. Last night my husband was working late and I was running all over the place trying to get/keep all three of the little monkeys happy and get them ready for bed. And I was constantly missing the balls, but catching them on the up bounce! Let’s see… how do we start the juggling act. After dinner, I need to get the table and kitchen cleaned up: The oldest two are happily playing, well, okay, maybe not so happily … Continue reading

School Behavior

We’re having problems with Gaku’s behavior at school… too social and has issues with personal space. But I think his teacher is having problems with the whole class… I’m also beginning to think that his teacher’s expectations are a bit too high. He’s just in kindergarten!! I’m thinking that maybe all the kids need a bit more unstructured time to play and be social. I don’t remember having all of this crazy curriculum in kindergarten… I think there is too much pressure on teachers to fit in too much curriculum (on a really tight schedule), which doesn’t allow enough time for … Continue reading

New Website

Okay, so I’m redoing my website. I have a few reasons. My domain registry expires next month. The registry I currently have is a bit pricey with no extra features. I can pay for web hosting, including free registry for not much more. Second big reason for the change is I’m not completely satisfied with my site on Microsoft Office Live. I can no longer log into my CMS to update my current site and have not been motivated to figure out how to fix this. Also, I would like more control over my site than I have with Microsoft Office Live. I’m planning to … Continue reading

Making Judgements on Craigslist

For some reason this really bothered me. Someone made a post on Craigslist which I consider to be inappropriate. Here is the post: Christmas Shopping on CL——————————————————————————–Date: 2010-11-12, 8:56AM ESTReply to: see below ——————————————————————————–Maybe you “could afford” a little more if you had a JOB instead of posting all those ads from your shopping list? CL READERS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO AID THE EBEGGARS. Donate new & used toys to the Salvation Army, VOA, shelters and Toys for Tots not these greedy lazy lowlife scammers who then return or sell their donations.
